Jaguar E-Type
A recent IK Sport Classic project was the crash repair of this beautiful Jaguar E-Type.
The car has been in the same ownership for over 20 years but despite fastidious maintenance and careful driving the car was unfortunately involved in a front end collision. IK Sport Classic were asked to repair the car and bring it back to its former glory.
After our initial inspection it was decided that the front clam shell could be repaired and an estimate was submitted to the insurance company for approval. We regularly work with a range of insurance companies on specialist classic vehicle repairs. Our good working relationship and reputation meant the estimate was accepted without hesitation and the work commenced immediately.
Although the initial damage seamed minor, once the clam shell had been removed it was clear much of the internal ducting had suffered from the accident. The first stage of the repair was to strip out and repair the ducting. This could then be reinstalled into the repaired clamshell. Before priming the repairs, the customer had asked if we could look to improve the panel gaps between the clam shell and the scuttle. This involved adjusting the catch and trimming the edge of the bonnet. Once the panel gaps had been adjusted and the metalwork repairs completed the car was primed and painted to match the existing colour, before a final polish and assembly. At the customers request we then performed a full service and MOT before handing the car back as good as new.
