MGB Roadster
The MGB Roadster is one of the most popular British classic cars, partly due to its production volumes, great handling and classic style. A father and son team contacted IK Sport Classic and asked if we could help paint a new heritage MGB shell that they were using to restore one of these iconic cars and of course we said yes.
They shell was delivered directly to our Holmfirth HQ from the factory and we set to work prepping and painting the shell. Unfortunately although being brand new the shell wasn’t in the condition we had hoped for and before beginning any paint preparation we had to adjust several panels to ensure even gaps and alignment.
Once the shell had been properly finished we began our detailed paint process with several layers of primer, filler where required and final colour. Between each stage the shell was sanded back, slowly removing any minor ripples and imperfections. We also seam-sealed and sound deadened the shell prior to final colour application.
On competition of the paint process we transported the shell back to the customers house ready for the father and son team to finish the build.
